Question Looking at moving to HD.....

Greetings from the home state of HD. My current ride is a 2009 HOnda Shadow Aero. Great bike, but looking for something in the 1600cc range. I have had my eye out for a Road or Street Glide. FOund a 2007 RG for $10,499 with 40k miles. Being I am new to HD, what kind of pricing should I be looking for on the Road and Street Glides? At what mileage should I show concern? Budget wise I need to come in under $12k in price in order to keep the budget under control. Thanks!!

That's reasonable if it was maintained, is it from a dealership? I was told that Under 75K miles and it's eligible for a genuine HD factory warranty if you choose to purchase one.

It is at a dealership, but a non-HD one.

Do you have a vest? What kind of boots do you wear and where do you put your gas cap?

Priorities man. You have to get the important stuff out of the way first. Do you want to be a real biker, or what?

The bikes are pretty solid. I would recommend browsing the Touring forum and looking at the common issues/recalls there. As far as pricing, we can't tell you anything that a google search, KBB, CycleTrader and the like won't tell you.

Somebody traded in a 2007 RG to a non-HD dealer? They must have hated it a lot.
There must be something seriously wrong with it. For one thing, any good, self-respecting Harley would have the decency to spontaneously combust if you park it in a Honda showroom.

One of the lady's who ride with us bought a '13 Sportster 883 w/$2,700 worth of extras (dealer installed at the time of purchase) and it only had 485 miles from a Ford dealership for $5,100. They took it as trade on a Mustang. It was a local trade and she received all the original paperwork. Her boyfriend is on this forum and he can chime in if he chooses to... Really a nice, clean bike.

If you are going to hang around here you might as well get use to it as it comes with the territory.

Welcome to the forums and I hope you find the bike that fits your needs.

Only advice I have is keep on researching and don't buy the first thing that catches your eye.

Take you time because when you get in a hurry you always screw up.

Good luck.

I hung around the forum for maybe a year watching, getting involved in discussions before I bought my first Harley last week. I am a little biased so screw the street glide, road glide all the way. There is a tremendous difference between what you have and what you are looking at.
