When my oldest grandson started riding with me he was amazed at how many people would stop to talk with me just because of the bike. I've got a Jeep that is pretty well built for off-road and he had experienced people starting conversations because of the Jeep but it's nothing like what he saw happen with a bike.
Great story. Shoulda told the daughter the pack was going in her car while ya took mama out for a rip, imagine what a trip that woulda been for the ol bird. More often than not when I'm gassin up (gas caps on the pump!) someone will say "nice bike, I used to have a bike, or someone I know has a Harley". My Indy guy says there are two types of people in this world, those that ride, and those that wished they rode. Ain't that the truth...

Had a conversation recently with an acquaintance who doesn't ride, and kinda/sorta doesn't really get it. No surprise, the conversation drifted to "dumbass bikers and their loud pipes". He asked me: "Do you know what most motorists in their cars are thinking when they see you?".
That's good, sad when someone's parents weren't good enough to miss. Still miss mine after 16 years. Becoming the tribal elder is not something to look forward to.
