Default Windshield Question

Just got my new bike. 2015 Electra Glide Ultra Classic. How tall should a windshield be? I want to get a new one but not sure how tall.
I am looking at the Klock Werks Flare. Thanks in advance

You want to be able to look over it.
For me anyway.

A lot depends on you. what are your issues? Buffeting? Wind in the face? Rain in the face? There are several different aspects to consider. I have a 13 Street Glide and loved the short screen on the fairing. But had buffeting, which a pair of fugly fangs stopped. Then rain in the face.... hated that. so I went from 4" to 7-7 1/2" high and that moved the wind flow up and the rain is not so bad. I can still see over the shield, and the wind and rain are no longer a major problem. That said, my set up may be (and probably will be) vastly different than what you would need/like. What are your real needs/desire???

See if your dealer has demo shields so you can try them out. I personally like a shorter shield (6.5" Klockwerks - not the 4" stock SG shield), my ex liked his stock windshield that came to jut above his eye level. I tried a couple of demo's at my dealer so I knew which one worked best for me.

I went with a 10" LRS Elite (excellent windshields, great service by the way). I still see over the windshield, I'm 5'9", on my 15 CVO. The original was a 10", this one with the recurve, got rid of the buffeting I was getting with my half helmet, have not tried my full one yet.

I think it should be 24" high and painted black.

Should sit just under your nose according to Freedom Shields. I bought an 8in and it was far to tall. I'm 6'1 and slouch when I ride so I returned it for a 6in and it is perfect. Check out Freedom Shields you get a discount for being a forum member and you can return the shield for free (you pay shipping) for refund of different size, provided you don't take up clear protective wrap. Top notch quality fit and finish, I'm a happy customer.
