Yup, there are a million youtube videos showing different types of mufflers.
Every single one of them shot with the crappy-*** little microphone in somebody's smartphone, and played through your crappy-*** computer speakers. Unless, of course, you're playing the video on your smartphone, in which case you're listening through the even crappier little speaker on your phone.
Some of the videos shot by the actual manufacturer are better, but you're still a prisoner of your own speakers.
Really, you gotta listen live. Or take the opinion of somebody whose opinion you trust.

I have the V&H Longshots and they have a deep-pitch rumble. It's the sound I wanted, since other shorty pipes sound too high-pitched for my ears.
I was in your dilemma, but I got lucky since there's a guy at my work that has Longshots on his Softail and I asked him on his break to fire it up for me so I could hear his pipes.
My advice is to go to a bike night or rally and look for the pipes you want and ask the owner to fire it up for you so you can hear them. Youtube helps, but it's just not the same as in person.

Go to a bike run and when you hear the sound you like, find out what pipes/mufflers the bike has. But, keep in mind, the same pipes will sound different depending on the state of tune and modifications a motor has.
Even with exactly the same exhaust system, a stock HD will not sound the same as one with a pumped up motor. More cubic inches, cams, higher compression, etc, will all affect how a bike sounds.
