Default What Is It?

Starting the process of removing the fenders and tank for paint. I bought this bike early this year, and I always knew this gizmo was under the seat, but decided not to mess with it until the off-season. It was tucked in next to the connector to the rear light harness, and the clipped wires had those cheapo blue wire splice things. The other connectors…..were not connected!

Boldly moving forward, I clipped the wires and removed it. Does anyone recognize what this is? It didn't affect any function after it was cut off, it didn't seem to affect anything when it was hooked up. But then, none of the other connectors were connected to anything.

Any ideas?

My guess, a modulator or what ever it is called for when you add led lights etc. Looks like one that is used to split the tail lights when extra lights are added to the bags etc.

My guess, load equalizer.
Probably for trailer wiring.

That would explain the unconnected wires.

There are no LEDs, and nothing flashed when applied, but then it was not fully connected either.

Thanks!

The most bothersome thing to me is the way it was installed. I hate those splice pinch connectors. While they do make the job of splicing wires into an existing system easier, I think it compromises the overall system.

My bet is that it was "professionally installed."

Most likely, I'll either repair the harness or replace the entire thing since the insulation has been cut through at those splice points.

Looks like it might be the rear turn signal running/ brake lights conversion kit.
