Default Yet Another "What Is It" Question

So, I have my '06 Deluxe knocked apart for paint and general maintenance. When I removed the back wheel for doing the brake, I found a dangling wire. Once I pulled off the splash cover, this is what I found. It seemed to be dangling in the area of the belt and was abraded through in areas.

I saw no reference to it in the repair manual. As far as I know, everything on the bike works normally.

Any idears?

It's plugged into your security siren unit. I'm guessing that model uses that as an antenna to receive or transmit to a fob or keyless remote control

Thanks! Looks like that wire is supposed to be sandwiched between two pieces of velcro on the frame.

I will make it so!

Much appreciated

The "what is it" questions are my favorite part of this forum. One of these times I might even be the guy that can answer the question

Agreed. So far, all I've done is ask the question. Being an old school guy, some of these newfangled electonical gizmos are baffling.

Getting my seemingly dumb questions answered is worth way more than the price of admission. I reckon one could say...priceless!

Man that was close!

I guess I was too preoccupied with where to set my gas cap when I filled up, or if the assless chaps made my *** look too big.

Antenna for fob. Most people stick it to the top of the battery.

That's the antenna wire the black helicopters use to follow you. I cut the one on my bike off and attached it to a squirrel.
