Default 14''Apes

Harley riders,
I'm adding a few new items to my baby over the winter one being 14'' Apes. Are there any tips for the first ride home? I'm guessing her feel might change and would like to know if there's anything i need to pay extra attention to until i get her to my favorite parking lot. She's an 04 Fatboy

Apes seem to have a little more leverage. Not a huge deal, just don't freak if you try to adjust a mirror and the bike moves.

You will love them. Remember, you can roll the bars forward or back to adjust the bars to your liking. You might want to take the bike slowly around a few blocks (practice cornering) and then you will be ready to go. Ron

You probably won't ride directly home.

I think 14 to 16 inch apes are some of the best feeling and offer great control on a big bike like your Fatboy. After the first 100 yards you will wonder why you asked this question.

14" apes, risers probably at 2" and your height? Pay attention to your turns, and u-turns the first week. It'll all come together, same setup here. My first week and the u-turns got a laff out of me.
Edit: oops, I'm 5' 8"

You will LOVE your apes. The most important thing I think is practice your emergency stops as you can. It's a different world out there. Slamming on the brakes with apes is a bit different than you may be used to without them. I have rolled my bars over a time or two. Other than that, you will wet yourself in the first turn due to the excitement. You'll want to change, and ride till the sun goes down.
