Default Advice on a possible purchase

How's it going?

I recently went down and totaled my 02 T-sport. I was searching all over for another one and stumbled across a Road Glide. Set up exactly how I like it with T-bars,taller suspension front and rear, etc. The road glide is a 2011 with a new 103 motor(with all paperwork verifying that it was put in 5k miles ago and warranty), full suspension recently done with receipts, new neck bearing, wheel bearings, brakes and tires. That is the list of recent work to the bike. The bike has 98k miles and looks like I can get it for 12 grand. Anything I should be worried about with that mileage? Seems to have been maintained very well.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

That seems like a lot of money for it.

I bought my current bike from my dad who bought it new in 08. It currently has 99,271 miles but I'm not worried about it because I know my dad took care of it and had it serviced regularly. It also got a new front brake system and a new engine at 74,000 miles under extended warranty. My dad gave me a good deal, I think, at $8,500. I know it won't bring it, but retail is $14k-$15k. It has an extended warranty on it until October 2017, so I will keep it at least that long.

Getting close to a top end refresh if you ask me... everything else should go 200-300k easily. The later twin cams have a pressed together crank with cast iron flywheels and no timken bearings unlike your t-sport, which had a pressed together crank, but with hot forged flywheels, and dual timkens. Fortunately the crank pink is much larger and they'll go just about as long as an evo bottom end if the operator doesn't flog the ever living **** out of them.

EDIT: I did see where you said it had a new engine and trans put in 5k miles ago but I never trust that... whose to say the new engine and trans was new? Where did it come from? I'd just assume everything has 98k miles on it.

If its a legit new motor and new trans then its solid. As far as the price thats a little high in my opinion.

No new trans, just new motor...was done at Temecula HD in California I believe. I know it was a Harley dealer and he has all paperwork on the motor and when and where it was done. Trans is original I believe.

What was REALLY done to it though? Just a top end refresh? Or a new crate motor bolted in?

Yeah definitely going to hold off and look around and if it's still available in a couple months then I can work a better price. If it's all legit which I believe it is, I'd be happy paying 10k.
