I don't have room nor the desire for a bunch of tee shirts. Last year for my birthday, my friend Valerie got me a bell and a chip. Since then, whoever one of us visits a different dealer we buy two chips. It's a fun little gifting thing and they don't take up much room. I have a little stack of about ten of them next to my computer. I like the colors and the sound they make when you mess with them. I like the oil dots also, but haven't decided if I really want to get into that collecting thing. I also collect carousel horse music boxes, guitar picks, and a few other things. I suppose it's the collector in me and these don't take much space.

I think they are the replacement for those things they used to call "dealer dots". They showed the dealer's name, and I think they had some adhesive so you could stick them on top of the oil fill plug. Many of the newer plugs are convex or otherwise misshapen, so the old dots didn't work that well. Hence, poker chips. For what it's worth, I have stuck one on top of an oil fill plug using silicone. Just for the heck of it.
