Is this what our money gets us these days?

Ok yes the pics are working but what the hell are you talking about? Do you own a CVO or did you buy some SE exhaust?

it looks as though one doesn't bolt on so good. no quality control has been their problem for about 25 years now.

Why don't you just try to re-adjust the tip to lessen the gap? Not exactly brain surgery.
