Default Has Anyone Ever Had Any Luck.......

In getting the blue or gold discoloration off of Pipes?

I have V&H Longshots and it seems a while ago the top muffler worked its way lose and before i caught it the pipe now has a gold color to it from where it meets the header to about 4 inches down the pipe.

Was just wondering if any of the products out there really work to remove this or the easiest way to do it if possible.

Thanks

Good Luck ... you can minimize it but seldom will you eliminate it. Gold gives it some "character"

There may be some helpful info in one or more links here. It is unlikely you will clean the pipes so they look new.

The color is not "on" the metal, it is the metal. The only way to remove the color is to polish it off by removing material. It will inevitably come back.

The only permanent solution is to run heat shields.

It's good luck that I have shields on my pipes. They could be pink and purple under them but they're chrome and shiny when you see them.
