Fish Taco Run

Fish Taco Run
I had me a hankerin' for some good fish tacos this last weekend.
It rained hard here in Central California on Friday and well into Saturday morning with more on the way for Sat/Sun overnight. We need all we can get, but I'd rather it rained during the week! Looking at the weather report for the surrounding areas, only left a couple choices to take advantage of a hole in the rain pattern on Sunday. So with a powerful hankerin' and knowing that the coast was always the best place to go for good fish tacos, I set off for Morro Bay.
I took the less traveled 41 south of Shandon once I was past the 41/46 junction at Cholame. This is a nice twisty little road lined with big oak trees, and crosses 101 at Atascadero. Passing under 101, it takes you straight into Morro Bay. I really like route rather than the more heavily traveled hwy 46.
Once in Morro Bay, I headed straight for a place on the north end of the embarcadero called "Dockside #3". All the seating is outside. I walked straight in and ordered up three fish tacos and a small Firestone DBA. The fish used was fresh caught "Blue Rock Fish". So fresh that one could easily eat it raw.
Once my hankerin' was satisfied, I hung out for another hour to allow the beer to metabolize, and headed back.
This time I took "Old Creek Road" which cuts the corner off of the Hwy 1 and 46 junction, and is a very nice, narrow, twisty piece of road with virtually no traffic. Yellow wildflowers in bloom along the road, with areas going through thick groves of oak trees. Lovely!
So, the fish tacos cost me 12 bucks, plus eight gallons of gas and seven hours out of my Sunday. Well worth it!
