Default LED oil dipstick not working

I took it apart and checked the battery - it's OK. I even put a new one in and still no display. It's only a couple years old. Didn't have a problem with the earlier unit that was just a temp gauge.
Anyone else have this problem and what did you do for it???

Any suggestions? I hate to toss it because it was pretty expensive.

Here's a joke. Is it dealer fixable???

I see more complaints about this part than any other. The moco needs to pull this one from the shelves.

The thread I recently posted on this same subject.

Summary: it's an inaccurate, unreliable POS.

Actually, there is a dealer repair kit for it. It is $149.95, and comes in a nice box. You take it out of the box and hold it in your right hand. Then you remove your existing one with your left hand. Tap them together, and say three Hail Mary's. Then with your right hand install y
the repair kit...and with your left hand throw the old one in the trash. If you are lucky your repaired one will last more than the two years mine have lasted.

If mine goes out and the shop doesn't make good on it...depending on how long I've had it...I'll put the old one back in. I'm sure not going to buy another on.

Have you tried dipping it in hot water?

Perhaps a gentle tap?

I'm thinking the same thing. I know I checked it a lot, but what did that do? = just told me how hot the oil was. big deal.

It is dealer repairable, but they will tell you that they all do that so it is NORMAL.

I was going to do the "just a dial" dipstick too but because mine screws in and doesn't push in, I think what I have was the only choice...unless I missed something when I Googled it.
