Road/street glide shopping
New member here. I come from 10 years of riding sport bikes. Looking to slow down and enjoy some road trips. Currently in the used market for a road glide, with consideration of a street glide. Buying used with a budget of 12-15k.
I come from Japanese bikes so have very little familiarity with HD. Just looking for tips on what to expect in my price range, and what to look for with a used glide.
Thanks

12-15k should find you a nice 11-13 RG with reasonable miles, at least in the northwest. I would stay '09 and up with the touring frames, the improvements were worth while. '11 or '12 also say the 103 as standard in touring frames, if that will make a difference for you. The FLTRX (Road Glide custom) is similar to a streetglide with the exception of the fairing difference, while the FLTRU is the Roadie Ultra.

I wouldn't look at anything older than a '14. New saddlebags alone are worth the extra$$$ Great handling, lower styling. I prefer the SGS because the RGS fairing looks nice but is almost no use. So far out in front, the weather really isn't blocked and the radio/nav is almost unreadable to glare. Thats a big factor in the PNW. One last thing is the tiller-like steering, I just didn't like it.

You won't get a 15 for that money...yet...I'd look on the forums or craigs for a low mile bike..11 or 12 custom model...can add detachable tour pack later... leaves room for comfort upgrades...most folks will have already put on pipes, breather and tuner to cool down the motor.....for comfort..seat,bars then windshield......i went for road glide to stop getting bars blown around by trucks and wind gusts...patience in the hunt and enjoy!!!

Just be prepared to be disappointed on the, handling, suspension, braking, and other items that you are use to on a sportbike. I would try to get a used 14 and up bike. Im sure you can get one for 15-18K. Some 2014 models are already 3 years old since Harley produces their new models a 6 months prior. So check the vin and look at the build date.

Why '14 and up? What substantial changes were made?
