Default Daytona Big Wheels

Last night I ran across some Youtube videos from Daytona this year, and I was amazed and rather mystified by the number of 'custom' bikes with HUGE front wheels. It seemed like an endless parade of them, and they all looked like they were based off of the same kit. Is this style really a 'thing' now, or just a flash-in-the-pan Flavor of the Month deal?

I believe it's just a fad. I call 'em donk bikes as they remind me of an early '70's Impala lifted with 24" wheels.

they always put me in mind of a person wearing one regular shoe and one clown shoe, so I call them "clown shoe bikes".

but I like the super wide rear wheels that some think are ridiculous too, so who's to judge.

It seems that this style is lasting longer than I thought it would. What is really interesting is that every guy I talk with, or read about here on the forum hates them, yet I see bunches of them! where are these ugly things coming from? Hey thats why we live in America. I thought the fat front tire would replace the big wheel look, but that never got any traction, (forgive the pun!) I guess there isn't anything out there to replace it yet. I kinda think going back to a more "normal" size works for me, 21" for most bikes looks just fine for me, 23" wheels seem to be ok, but after that, You lost me.

Been that way for the past several years especially during Bikeweek. I watch the live cam a lot!!!! Don't see near as many during Biketoberfest. It is a fad that hopefully will die out just like the custom chopper craze in the early 2000's. Hey!!!! Look at me and hear my loud stereo!!!!! First time I ever saw one was in Sturgis 2010. Just a handful there then.

They must not have got the memo that we don't approve of that stuff around here.

I don't really like the looks of them, but the builders have talent. A lot of great workmanship.

Looks uncomfortable as hell. I wonder if there's one out there with 10,000 miles on the odometer. The ultimate bar hopper built on a cross country touring chassis.

I don't care for them and I'll never do it to my bike but some bikes like the above, look "normal" with them. And they just don't look like a bike that'd go 70mph for 1,000 miles down an interstate, just ride them around town.
