Why did you feel that you needed a new fuel pump and not a new hose, filter, regulator housing, regulator... ?

Dry rot, not flexible, not sure of the age?

If in doubt throw it out.

I had fuel spraying in the tank, the front cylinder would only run on a small amount of throttle at 50 mph any thing more than that it would bog down. so i felt the spark was fine . when i removed the fuel pump and hoses i could not find the source of the spray . I even looked with a magnifying glass. the bike 50,000 on it and i like long trips . so to be on the safe side for $260.00 i will replace it and the hoses. My question is , should i replace the new hoses with the gates submersible hoses ? or has harley improved them ?

When was the last time Harley "improved" something to benefit the end user?

By the way, there is a pressure regulator in there that will blow off (spray) excess fuel when the system primes. This is normal.

I don't know if they fixed the known fuel line issue. If you want to replace the line(s) for fun, you can. If you do, use Gates.

I highly doubt your fuel pump assembly is your culprit. I would start looking at sensors and injectors. Could be just a dirty sensor. Are you running a fuel tuner?

no tuner just stock . it was great weather when the issue started about 1/2 tank of gas made the 50 mile trip home . but more than a little bit of throttle it would bog !!!

I'd replace the hoses. Coming from a MFG. world, parts built by lowest bidder tend to wear out quicker. It's like this if a part cost $5.10 to build but you can find one for $4.10 @ and you build a million units with that part, which one will you install to save $$$?
