Issue: What is the fastest stock Harley and how does it compare to the speed of a sport bike?
Some users feel that the V-rod is faster than a 600cc sports bike, while others think the sports bike are faster. Users will break down the differences in the engine and give their opinion of which bikes are fast and why.

I have whipped imports many times light to light, 1/8 mile, and a few in the 1/4 mile with my Harley FXR (with tons of mods of course). Don't really even mess with Harleys anymore-
Twisties and top end freeway the big sportbikes own me...
It's all relative-different strokes for different folks, and all kinds of bikes designed for all kinds of purposes...

Like the title says, what is the fastest STOCK Harley and how does a Harley compare to the rice burners. I am just curious maybe a few ex-rices : new HD riders could give me some insight because all I hear is well my bike is faster than any harley (Here at school) just wondering if a 600 cc can really compare to the 96CI since it is more than twice as big. or for that matter if a 600cc can compare to the 1200 sportster.
it depends on who's riding it.

Claimed top end of VRod = 125 mph
Claimed top end of FJR = electronically limited at 154 mph
The FJR is a lot more comfortable cross-country than the VRod.

When I was doing my motorcycle licence training (here in the UK), we were riding Honda CB600F bikes. These are basically commuter bikes, so nothing special. These bikes put out 102 HP at 12,000 RPM and 63.5nM of torque at 10,500 RPM and weigh 380lbs (factory spec).
Conversely, my 2014 FXDF has 1,690cc capacity (almost 3x the Honda!), puts out 78 HP at 5010 RPM and 132nM of torque at 3250 RPM. It weighs 680 lbs!
So the FatBob weighs 80% more and has 25% less horsepower. But it has more than twice as much torque, which is accessible at much, much lower revs. And low down torque is directly equal to fun!
I haven't raced one bike against the other, but I would say the 600cc Honda is faster overall - as long as you get it up to the high revs.
It's not really a fair comparison though as both bikes are built for totally different purposes.
Now - which one is more fun to ride? No comparison. The Harley wins hands down!
Which one would I prefer to own....well... I don't own the Honda!
