Issue: What is the fastest stock Harley and how does it compare to the speed of a sport bike?

Some users feel that the V-rod is faster than a 600cc sports bike, while others think the sports bike are faster. Users will break down the differences in the engine and give their opinion of which bikes are fast and why.

Default Fastest bike

Like the title says, what is the fastest STOCK Harley and how does a Harley compare to the rice burners. I am just curious maybe a few ex-rices : new HD riders could give me some insight because all I hear is well my bike is faster than any harley (Here at school) just wondering if a 600 cc can really compare to the 96CI since it is more than twice as big. or for that matter if a 600cc can compare to the 1200 sportster.

If you want speed, then definitely go with a 600cc ricer.
The Harleys aren't built for speed, they're built for cruisin' and lookin cool.

They don't compare at all. A 600 sportbike will smoke all the stock HD's.

The fastest stock Harley is most likely a V-Rod. The 600cc engines in squids are designed to be extremely high-revving. Harley V-twins aren't a very high-revving power plant, but the V-Rod has some serious performance.

Generally the rice rockets will be faster than any STOCK harley with the exception of the V-Rod. The V-Rod has tons of torque and power and is a blast to ride. The 600cc may be faster than the 96 off the line but will have no torque and higher rpm's. Torque is what makes bikes fun to ride. Also, if you look at the fit and finish, there's no comparison as the Harley is a much better product from the factory.

you seem to know may i ask how you know. something tangible. perhaps some numbers. I really cannot believe that a 600cc (sewing machine motor) could beat some big *** harley. I have seen the one guys harley bagger blowing all sorts of rice pods off the drag strip. I know it varies from rider to rider 0-60 times but what would a good riders time be.

Do you consider a Rotax engine a Harley? And, the 600's are beating the Buell so far in the AMA this year.
