Default Fluid leaking behind my voltage regulator! What is it?

I was cleaning the bike earlier getting ready to ride and I noticed what looked like fluid building up like a grease on my voltage regulator.

If you are facing the bike it is behind the voltage regulator. It is a male/female plug and it has a little fluid leaking out of it. I took it apart and it's the female side that has the fluid leaking. I'm not sure what is going on or how to fix it and I was hoping some of you may have seen this before. THere are two male/female plugs hidden behind a little plastic guard. It's the plug on the bottom that is the larger of the two.

It is an 01 Fatboy.

Generally it's oil from the last oil change that wasn't completely cleaned off. Filter changes are notorious for this slop. Oil always seems to find it's way into that cover. Dealer change your oil? Clean it all out good and keep and eye on it.

its your voltage regulator fluid. its pretty expensive stuff, but you can substitute it with your turn signal fluid if you want to save a couple bucks.

Sometimes the oil can track along the stator wire and travel inside the wire insulation all the way down to the connector near the front of the motor. Having the connector zip tied up high can help if this is where the leak is coming from. Also, oil can leak from the rubber boot that seals the opening that the stator wire passes through in front of the motor. The rubber boot cannot be replaced separately from the stator, but you can use RTV to make the boot seal oil tight if that's the problem.

nope,,cant interchange on tc's,,,just pans and shovels,,,,it's in the service manual in the the sections B and also S........"do not interchange blinker and and voltage regular fluids, doing so can make the wiring burn up."........

Not true. DOT 3 1/2 will work for both.
