Default Typical labor hours for bar swap

Wife's Deluxe is at the dealer for accident repair and we're thinking of having them put a set of new bars on the bike for her. Something with alot more pullback.

Anyone ever have a dealer do it for them. Assuming new cables are needed what would be the typical number of labor hours involved.

I know I could do it myself but figure if I can get something crossed off my honeydo list for a couple bills it'd be worth it.

I've heard numbers ranging from 500.00 to 1000.00 from dealer changing out bars. A lot of it depends on what kind of cables/lines ect. Are you splicing the electrical wires or is there extension harnesses for that bike? running the wires through the handle bars for the cleaner look?

All this makes a difference.

I am putting some 14" apes on ,, new apes $50.00 (at swap meet).Braided cables and lines.....$278.00 . I'll do the work myself.

I don't think you could get parts and labor for a couple bills, maybe $500.00? Think DIY!

easy job, you can do yourself. Hardest part would be running cables through the bars, but there are a million tricks. I use a long shoe string and air compressor to blow that through the bar first, zip-tie it off on the wire bundle, wrap with elec. tape to hold the zip tie and shoe string on there and then yank through. solder and heat shrink, done.

Had dealer do mine. Used existing cables but had them do internal wiring. Did at the same time as my 5K service. Took it to dealer instead of indy only because I had a 50% off labor coupon that kicked in only if I bought the parts from them. So, bought the bars and a new set of grips from the dealer, and got 50% off the labor for that and the 5k service. Total was 3 hours so I only paid an hour and a half. Probably the best and only really good deal I've ever gotten at the dealer.

Actual labor time really depends on how many changes are necessary. I work at the collision center at my local dealership. Usually we will do upgraded parts at similar rate for what the insurance company pays for replacing the original part. If you need wires run internally and/or lengthened and new cables and lines then obviously some labor time is added.
