Really depends on where you live and what the state laws are concerning seized vehicles. Where I was when I was an LEO if you used your vehicle as a part of transporting illegal drugs for distribution, the vehicle was seized and became property of the law enforcement agency to do with as they pleased.

Talk to your local banker. A few years ago at the height of the selling over MSRP my local bank repo'd a Softail Custom. I talked to the banker wha did not want to mess with all the bidding stuff. I took it home that day for $7k. I was looking to make a few bucks on it. I sold it for almost $12k to the first guy that looked at it.
