Default Help on extended warranty

My 2 year warranty on my '09 dyna is up in Jan 2011. What are you guys paying for extended warranty and for how long are the coverages? Are the extended warranties as good as the original 2 year MOCO warranty when you bought your bike new?

I'm real familiar with the concept of chance, etc. but for those of you that purchased extra coverage did you get good service with no grief from your dealers?

I've got 5200 miles on the bike now (been real busy fixing my house mostly by myself) and the bike seems to be running fine.

What sort of trouble has anyone had after 2 years with a low mileage 96 like mine?

I'll appreciate your feedback on this...

Have a good new year everyone...

Mine was around $1,400 for 7 years including tire coverage. I've got 70.000 mi. on my 08 FLHT and 4 years left on the extended warranty and it's allready paid for itself. I had the lifters replaced, the fairing brackets replaced ,the primary Main shaft bearing replaced. the compensator and rotor replaced, The rear sprocket bearings replaced and two tires replaced (road hazard)with free towing. I put a lot of miles on (around 28,000 a year. You are averaging only 2,500 a year so it might not pay for itself with you. I had good service from the dealers. all but one breakdown was out of state on long road trips.

I think it really depends on your Dealer and how willing and able they are to assist . . . and then how knowledgeable (or NOT) they are technically.

In my case, under my non-extended regular warranty I have had to fight tooth and nail to get even the simplest things taken care of. In part this has had as much to do with the lack of technical ability on the part of the technicians at this dealer . . . but in the end it's the Dealers responsibility to hire and train competent folks. So in my case I would not purchase any extended warranty . . . and I put about 15K/Yr on my bike.
