Default Tire opinion with pics.

I'm due up for a rear anytime now and noticed a slit in the tread of my front one about 4" long or so. Tires are Metz 880's the front is a Brazil tire and from what I can tell made in 2007 (I could have read the wrong numbers..).

Anyhow looking at the pics do you think I should go ahead and grab a front tire too? We are expecting our first rugrat in December so money is gonna be tight but I'd like to be here to see it so I don't want my tire to come apart at the seams lol.

I'm leaning towards the cut/flaw is not very deep and could probably make it till winter then I should get one anyhow since it's an older tire..

Thoughts?

To me, the front looks fine, I would run it. But, that's me...
Would not hurt to price around, be looking for the best deal for when you do.

Its 5 years old. I'd ditch it and get a new one.

The best advice I can give is that when you are riding if the front tire is the only thing you can think about and you worry about it. Then go ahead and change it for peace of mind. If not ride it till the tread is gone. Looks ok to me though

Like said before it looks like a surface scratch I would just run it and keep an eye on it.

I wouldn't worry about it either.

Run your hand down the outside of the the tire , if you can't feel any cupping or uneven wear or raised parts your good to go with that one . Most get 2 maybe 3 rears to every front changed unless it wears unevenly .
