Unhappy 68 shovel deceleration smoke

hey guys.ive got a 68 shovel that ive owned for 27 years.had a s&s stoker kit put in it 13 years ago with no problems.took it back to the same very reputable shop to regasket the top end because of a cylinder base gasket leak.so they did a hone,rings,3 angle valve grind, new guides, and resurfaced rockers.now it smokes on deceleration.took the carb off.and it had a film of oil in head and intake.so i wiped it clean.put carb back on.started motor for like 3 to 5 minutes till i seen smoke.took carb off and there was a river of oil in there.it never had guide seals from the factory as most of you will know.so its back at the machine shop right now.im thinking maybe using jims guides with the viton o-ring and the crane.531 valve stem seals.i dont know why it would start smoking now when we just replaced the stuff with the same parts(just new)I know that if the rocker boxes get floded with oil that they will smoke as the oil comes past guide and valve stem.but why now and not before.gonna check the returns to make sure there clear.anyone ever had this problem??????I think im on the right track.any input greatly appreciated. C.C.

Could they have put one set of rings in upside down and vacuum is sucking oil past them on decel? Do a leakdown test and see what happens.

Can't say for sure on yours, but I know on a car motor smoke on decel is a sure indicator valve guide seals are shot or not installed properly.

Default dont think so

these guys are pretty good.i dont think they would make that rookie mistake.plus i forgot to say this will be the third time apart.second time cometic steel viton gasket didnt seal so we went with a fire ring and milled head and cylinder.fixed that.and the oil is in the intake.if it were a wiper ring upside down.i dont think it would be getting into intake.wouldnt it just burn it and send it out the exaust?????thanks for the reply bro

Probably right. Did you check all of your vents?
