Default Kick stand

Question
Life limit on kick stands? I have a 1992 FXSTS is it possible that the kick stand might have some internal stress cracks starting ? I would hate to find my bike laying on it's side because of a kick stand failure .Anyone change the kick stand for time reasons?

Whoo Hoo! First one to answer this.

There are two possible scenarios:

1. You are a troll.

2. No, there are no stress issues with a kickstand. Had an 86 with original kickstand with no issues.

So, if you are not a troll, your kickstand is fine.

If you are, shove your stress-cracked kickstand up your...

(and once I posted I was no longer the first, Well done HD7585!)

Why would you think that your kickstand has stress cracks? I see a lot of weak springs allowing kickstands to hang down a little. I have had to change out the spring on the kickstand to my 98 wideglide and I have tightened the nut holding the kickstand arm on my 03 heritage.

My buddy changed one recently - not for stress but because he lowered his scoot and the OEM did`nt sit right after the changes - he bought a shorter one

It ain't no goddamned 'kickstand'...it's a Harley-Davidson 'jiffy-stand'. And it will probably fall off, 'cause you didn't check the bolt torque, rather than fail due to 'stress fractures' or metal fatigue.

wideglidebob? RUB is like the most common slang i have heard for trailoring weekend warriors on this forum. it is far from old and worn out. more of a commonplace really in the biker

just fyi = Rich Urban Biker

and it is in his signature not like he said it during this post

Assuming this question is legit, the weakest link in any jiffy stand is the spring. Keep it lubed and rust/grime free and it should last longer than you do.
