Default can anything be done with harleys old fxrg zippers?

Let me premise by stating that fxrg completely changed their zipper system in 09 back to ykk and they are outstanding jackets. but....their previous zippers are junk. I bought a used fxrg textile jacket, cheap, to wear when im not wearing my new leather one. So of course the zipper broke. I took it to harley and they only fix em if you have a receipt, so now im stuck with a really nice jacket that is in constant open mode. Has anyone taken these things to a tailor and had real zippers put in or should i just send this one to good will?

Take it to a shoemaker, he can fix it...He will put a new zipper on it.

Jsut get a new zipper if the pull is broken. You could go to JoAnn fabric, buy a zipper and take it to anyone with a heavy duty sewing machine. A zipper is about $10. My wife has a heavy duty machine and can sew anything but leather with it. Meaure the zipper so you know how long it is as they come in many different lengths.

Thanks, I wondered if it could be that easy.

No problem. I have been breaking zippers for years. Even the good ones.

i think it's absurd that harley sells these jackets for nearly $600 and won't fix a zipper on a two year old jacket without a receipt.

that said take it to a good tailor, they'll replace the zipper. it'll probably cost $45.00 or so.
