Yeah I remember he used to have a lot of interesting posts and was an interesting guy. Oh well, nothing is permanent.

Yrs ago (73) an old wrench told me,
If she starts good, Runs good, Don't smoke or used much oil and get's good fuel mileage....

THEN don't F**k with her... If NOT.. then bring her in and he'd work on her..

40 city 50 hiway is about as good as you'll get....

'09 FXD. If I burn non-ethanol gas, I *consistently* get 47 mpg. If I burn ethanol gas, it consistently drops to 43 mpg.

On interstate I get 51 mpg with the non-ethanol and 47 with the ethanol.

Just put on this a couple weeks ago (upgrade from stock) http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/Blac...C587-BB-TC.htm

and so far it's given me an extra 1 to 2 mpg. Need more time though to keep testing it to make sure it's consistent.

One of my regular rides is about 200 miles and I can make it on the main tank, but not by much. And hallf of that is 100 miles of twisty ups and downs on the Blue Ridge Parkway. So I'd guess I'm getting 50ish on the road. Not sure what I get around town, never bothered to figure it out.

I have gotten 50 once on my Heritage. Long stretch of 65 mph highway with a tailwind. Other than that, low 40's. Your bike pulls better than those numbers with stage one. Be happy.
