Why is it as a life member of HOG you have to be a member of a chapter in order to buy certain member patches?
All I want is a large reflective Life Member and reflective HOG Eagle but cant get them because I am not a member of a chapter.

If you go to the national HOG members only site https://profile.harley-davidson.com/...ite%2Fmain.jsp and sign in (or create a profile, if you haven't done so previously), there is a tab called "Member-O-Bilia" (unbelievably corny) and an ability to shop online. I checked and they have the large reflective HOG patch ($23) and large reflective Life Member rocker patch (also $23). There is no need to confirm chapter membership at this site. You just need to be a national HOG member.

 

Tried that it may be different on the US site the European "Member-O_Bilia" site does not have an online shopping link. Thanks for the info though.

 

Obviously rules differ from country to country.Here in Italy I was going to join a local chapter (I am currently a US HOG) and they require that the new member buys -from them- the leather vest onto which the patches are to be sewn and if you leave the chapter you must surrender patches and vest!First of all I already own a leather vest that I never wear because I don't like vests and since I'm also paying for the damn patches I consider them mine.In the end I gave up joining.

 

Join chapter, get patches, leave chapter.

 

I'd be more concerned about Greece.
