Default world's fastest Indian

Has anyone seen the movie called the World's Fastest Indian? It's about a Burt Munro re-building an Indian in the 1920's in an attempt to set a world's speed record?

I saw it. Loved it.

More about Bert Munroe than bikes, but still an excellent movie...

Also read that the Indian in the movie wasn't.

It was a "heavily modified" Cagiva motor under the body, but who knew? And who cared?

Great movie, but it's not about Burt re-building his Indian, and it's not set in the 1920's. It's about Burt getting his 1920 Indian, which he modified in every way by hand, to Bonneville to fulfill his dream..... and so much more.

Good point. I think the run was made in the 60's, making that 1920's Indian all that much more impressive....

It is a great movie about a real character living his dream. I highly recommend it.

Read the book on him if you want to be more amazed. With nothing more exotic than an old lathe and hand tools, he rebuilt cranks and crankcases, forged pistons, made cylinders out of iron pipe, turned the side valve 45 Indian Scout motor into about a 900cc overhead cam engine, hammered out his own streamline body out of aluminum. Yep this old guy really wanted to go fast.
