How long will the Twin Cam run...
..... as a generation. The Shovelhead ran from 1966-1984 and the Evo ran from 1984-1999. How much life do you guys think the Twin Cam has before they replace it with the next generation engine. I myself have no idea but I thought it might be an interesting topic to bring up.
So, any ideas?

I predict that the MOCO will announce the new engine about 5 minute before people start talking about how great the Twinkies were, how easy it was to work on them.
5 minutes later someone will post a question on how to get that TC sound out of the bike they just ordered.

I too think we will see a change as soon as next year. I've scene quite a few article about water cooled engines. I think the time is coming sooner than later when Harley will introduce water cooled engines in all models. Will it be on the Twin cam engine? That is to be scene.

I was just reading the comments and something struck me. If they do water cool the big twins, will they leave the Sportsters air cooled... or maybe fan cooled? Would this leave the Sportys as the last "real" Harley's???

who really cares if they go to water the air cooled will just increase in value, u will loos most of the sound and for a few yrs they will be twinking the hell out of it, i don`t think water cooled will ever happen why fix something that works

I think it may be a hybrid cooled bike of some sorts...with that they learned with Buell and MV AUgusta they can hide a cooling system for sure....maybe just a head liquid cooling system with fans on it??? Not a full radiator system like we've seen in the past.... This way they can keep the same sound, cool it down so the tolerances can be tightened.
