02 road kind opinion... SHOULD I BUY? - part 2
allright, well the bike I posted about in my last thread didnt pan out...
I test rode another 02 RK this morning. Super clean, definitley well maintained. I kinda wanted a color like a blue but I think the black will grow on me, its pretty sleek looking. Not to much extra, pretty stock. Here are the specs from the ad:
2002 Harley Davidson Road King - 23,000 Miles, Black
Excellent Condition
New Battery
New Tires
Full Service This Year
Highway Pegs
K&N Air Filter
Slip on Muffles
Sissy-Bar Seat
Factory Alarm
Fuel Injection
Windshield Tall & Regular
He wants $8500.. Any opinions on the price, things I might want to do, ect.. right off the bat, Im thinking white wall tires and a seat with a drivers backrest...

It's gonna need the cam chain tensioners changed out in about 7,000 miles and cost around 800 bucks to get it done. I'd try to get him to come off the price some to help take care of that.
Here's a link to a drivers backrest that will work with the stock seat. I have one on my Heritage and really like it.

I'd offer $7500, and pay up to $8000 if it was a one owner, if not a one owner, I'd offer $7000 and bargain up to no more than $7500.
Time is on your side, it's a buyers market, take advantage of it! Don't let impulse cost you $$$$$
They make Harleys every day!

Definitely another good deal & agree w/deducting (negotiating) cam tensioner swap in the deal...$8K would be fair - good luck!

well, he claims hes the second owner and it was his bosses bike so he knows the entire history.. and to be honest, I believe him.. seemed like a really nice family and pretty straight foward. I think I will offer low though and not spend more than 8,000

lol, you have your math a little off... 8am test ride.. maybe my time stamp thing here is set wrong. I worked till 1am, 8am was pushing it, for a 5 am test ride, it would have to be a pretty awsome bike and come with a hot woman already on the back
