Default Anyone here have a Toy Hauler

My wife wants an RV, if I'm buying one it's definitely going to be a toy hauler. Looking for a 5th wheel, really like the Keystone Raptor models but wanted to pick the brains of those that already have one.

Go over to RV.net forums, they have a very active toyhauler section there.

Been toying with the idea for a few years... can't swallow the price tag. A buddy of mine bought a 35ft gooseneck enclosed trailer for 13k. Dumped another 5k into making into a camper. Thats the route I am gonna go. Not all luxurious but it fits the bill for litle coin and is better suited for my needs.

I just got a Hyperlite 27HFS a couple weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to setup the cargo area for the bikes yet. So far we really like it. Took me a few months to narrow it down to this one. Lots of brands out there but you'll find they're all made by just a handful of manufactures.

What's your tow vehicle? That'll help narrow down the size (GVWR) to get.

Depending on what trailer I want will determine what truck I get. I'm looking at the F250 King Ranch. I was leaning towards a travel trailer but heard the 5th wheels handle a lot better.

Just my opinion... But if you are looking at 5th wheels I'd go ahead and consider a F350. A dually will be more payload/stable. A single rear wheel E350 will at least give you more payload than a F250. Usually 5-10% more pin weight on a 5th versus a bumper pulls tongue weight. You will have a many people tell you a 250 will pull anything... But you wouldn't believe how much more stable (safe) a dually is.

My brother has the 40ft. Keystone Raptor and it is awesome. He bought it 4 years ago and the only time it gets used is for Sturgis. A little over-kill but hey, who doesn't need 3 huge tvs and a fireplace when roughing it? I'm sure your grandkids will enjoy the bunks and the garage turns into a patio and you can lower the beds in the garage turning the lower bed into a couch looking out the door. Plenty of storage, on-board, fairly quiet generator, good sized shower, and much more. You wont regret it.
