Default WTF is up with my bike??

Went out earlier, bike was ticking over at 2000rpm everytime I stopped at lights or junction. Eventually idle settled down to normal after about two minutes of revving at 2000 rpm.

Came home 5 hours later, bike wouldn't idle at all, dropped down to 550rpm and then cut out, about 5 or 6 times.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

I've just about had enough.

or the flux capacitor!

Actually, you described a vacuum leak. Maybe! Check for loose hoses around intake. if you have a torch you can use it to search for vacuum leaks by simply turn on the torch without lighting it and start the bike, shoot the gas around the intake area, if the engine revs up, home in on the area that is drawing in the gas.

Of course it could be a hundred other things as well...

Okay will check them tomorrow, it's dark here now, but how can it be that if it fires up on the starter okay, I'm not saying it isn't the battery cables, but it just doesn't make sense to me if it is.

The part where it wouldnt hold idle tells me fuel pressure regulator or a pin hole in the internal line. Startup is fine then cuts out due to low pressure. Just a guess from my experience.

Idle Air Control. Wife's bike had similar prob. But could be a number of things.
Good luck.
