Default This time of year can be a pain in the ***!

For the last week or so, when I leave for work at 0400 the temps have been right around the freezing mark. So....I put on a bunch of **** to stay warm on my thirty minute ride in.

When I get off at 1330 it's been up in the mid seventy's which is to hot to wear all the **** I had on when I left that morning.

I'm spending ten minutes strapping it all on the bike and stuffing it in the saddlebags so I don't roast going home.

I'm about ready to put a damn tourpak on my softail to just haul all of it home every afternoon.

I'll sure be glad when the weather gets it's **** together and just stays cold all day.

There, I feel better now.

Have you considered a heated liner? Have the same issues here certain times of year, having a liner to wear in the AM is easier than layering. Roll it up and strap it to your bike on the way home.

I know what you mean Iron! We were going to go to an indie shop this morning but just the idea of adding 15lbs of clothes to stay warm, didn't appeal to me. Plus my wife was still asleep and dragging her out into that made me drop the idea. I'll wait for this afternoon when it's 30° warmer.

Ain't that the truth. Mine's the opposite - nice and warm when I go in, but coming home at the wee hours, it's friggin' cold. That's one of the reasons I kept the bagger in addition to the softail. I prefer the Slim, but can pack half the world on the RK. Missing last year's weather patterns for this time of year. I finally parked the bike after New Year's Day last season. Here we are mid October, and it's already frosty in the morning...

Hey you southern folks - shut the hell up and quit whining!!!

For many of us northern peeps, riding is nearly done. My bike will likely be storage next week

Second the heated gear. Packs well and easy to put on. Comfortable too - no Michelin Man effect.

I got pneumonia 3 years in a row, riding at near freezing. Gave up on that. But if i did, heated gear would be my choice

I suppose the heated gear is the answer. I'm just so damn cheap that I'd rather bitch about the hassle than spend the money. I do have a pair of electric gloves but I got them on CL for $15.00.

For you guys up North, I feel your pain. I lived in Alaska for seven years.

Or, U could get some luggage for the rear instead of the TourPac.

On trips I use the HD overnighter that slips over the Sissy pad and snaps to the rear rack.
It has 1800 Sq ins of extra storage, it goes on and comes off in 30 secs. With it and the saddle bags I'd think U'd have enough room to put Ur extra stuff without having to tie items to Ur bike.

I've used it now for 6yrs and can load all my gear for a 6 day trip in the saddle bags and it without having to strap anything to the bike.

Gave around $110 for it and it works for me, Its easy to put on and take off and a LOT less money than the TourPac that looks out of place on most Softails .
