Default Can tell the difference between these 3 sets of cams ?

I have a 05 softail deuce and I'm thinking about just doing cams to wake up the bike. And like to know the deference between the. Andrews tw 21's the Andrews 48's and the S&S 509's . I do have EFI , K&N air filter , and SE pipes . And can I do this with out spending $300 dollars on special tools. Thanks

My opinion, You cannot beat the Andrews 21 for the 88.

Perfect cam for that engine. I did tons if research and kept getting to that answer.

I am very happy with mine. Be prepared to wear a permanent **** eating grin and poor gas mileage though. Cant keep off the gas....

I get around 38 mpg most of the time, but all on me. If I try to behave, I can get 40....

I know I can tune it for better mpg, but would give up some performance. I can also ease off on the throttle some too, but why?

You won't believe the improvement cams will make. My 2006 had some pretty lame stock cams, so not sure if the older models will see that drastic of a change. All I know that rolling on the gas getting on the freeway...I get to 85 pretty damn quick.

Pulls strong from idle to 5k rpm. Haven't pushed it above that. Yet.

That doesn't sound to bad for gas mpg. Was this a true bolt in , With no tuning or remap of the ECM ?

No, I have the PCIII. I added this when I did the ac and pipes, knowing I would do cams at some point. You will need to retune with any aftermarket cam.

That depends on what you mean by "special tools", and whether you want to change the cam chain tensioners and/or inner cam bearings. The Harley Davidson shop manual will tell you which tools and materials you'll need for cam removal and replacement. I'd go with the Andrews 21s.
