What "Riding Season"? Thanks Gerbing!!
I'm newer to riding, and this will be my first winter on a bike. I was determined to see how it goes, as it gets colder and colder in Norther Virginia. I went out the other day, decent gloves (no huge Eskimo gloves) and rode for around an hour. At around 50-55 degrees and an hour, I had to call it quits when I couldn't feel my fingers anymore, haha! (I used to tolerate heat MUCH better, but a decision to lose some weight apparently took away much of that insulation, haha).
That looks NO WHERE near what I felt like while I was riding.
But, after a ton of hours reading reviews on various heated gear, and seeing you all continually recommend this company called "Gerbing", I decided to pull the trigger on some gloves through a website, hoping that it was the correct size. In the end, I found a local retailer (a Honda dealership....I know, I know) that was a full-line Gerbing's dealer.
I ended up getting the jacket liner, dual thermostat and the T-5 gloves (I wanted the G3's but the T-5's are definitely more generous in cut and ability to retain heat. HOW FREAKIN' SWEET IT THIS???? Now it's 45 degrees or less out, and I'm toasty freaking warm! It's definitely expensive, but the first ride I was on, it was totally worth it. I'm still shocked at how thin and lightweight the jacket liner is, and the heated collar is one of the best features!
So....in short, to all of the people who may still be on the fence about this stuff, I would definitely encourage you to to get something to start with.
Don't let the temperature be the only reason you don't ride - grab some Gerbing's gear and get on out there!

Yeah,I wasted no time getting Gerbings gloves. Amazing stuff. One day ill buy the jacket liner but more for the elimination of wiring than the actual heat. I'm on the other side of the Potomac so I've got the same weather. You really can ride almost year round with Gerbings. Salt is a bigger deterrent to me than weather.

I have the heated soles, pants and coat. I currently use 4 season goretex gloves and before getting the heated coat my fingers were getting a little cold. I believe with the gloves fitting over my coat (riding and heated) the heat permeates to my hands.
The soles have worked very well. They heat up a bit slower but the balance between the pants and soles (they are on the same temp regulator) are perfect.
Ice will be my only deterrent this year.

The products are definitely worth it and amazing! I originally thought that the whole
"Begins to heat in 4 seconds" was marketing bs, BUT damn was I wrong. It literally begins to feel quite warm in 4 seconds and shortly after gets HOT! (But not uncomfotable, and the dual temp control is definitely required.)
I do want to get the pants (I don't think I'll need the heated soles if I have the pants and decent winter socks), but that'll have to wait for next paycheck. Fleece-lined jeans are hiding their own so far, but haven't got into the really low 40's and below yet.
Being my first winter, it's the salt that I'm going to worry about (ice and snow will obviously be a "no-storm" anyways - Gerbing's hasn't got anything for that yet, but that's why I rely on my car, haha)

Truth be told the T 5's are thicker, therefore produce less heat to the hands/fingers than the G 3's. Still can't go wrong with any Gerbings gear. I have well over a grand invested in the stuff.

This makes sense. I keep hearing how the gloves get so hot people need to turn them off or turn the controller down. I have not found this. I have the T5's and they just stay a comfortable warm temp...never too hot. Guess this answers why. Good to know because I was beginning to think maybe I had some defective filaments or something.
