Default Harley's Last True Military Motorcycle

Harley's WWII-era WLA is the ubiquitous military motorcycle, but it is not the only model the Motor Company made for the US Military. In the late 50's and early 60's Harley produced a militarized Sportster called the XLA.

Another good one! But looking at the bike, Harley sure likes that "school bell" looking A/C. My Blackline had one.

Harley's Last True Military Motorcycle

I take it by "last true military motorcycle" that you mean it's the last one actually built by Harley. They did have the MT350 and MT500. Your link barely mentions it as not being a true Harley. I thought anything that had "Harley-Davidson" on it was a true Harley.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...tary_Metal.pdf
"Harley-Davidson’s final military motorcycles were the MT-
500 and lesser-known MT-350E. The MT-350E was produced in
the 1980s by Armstrong-CCM Motorcycles. When H-D acquired
Armstrong’s military division, the MT-500 was already in
production. It originally saw action in the Falkland Islands
conflict (between Great Britain and Argentina), but later was
built strictly for the militaries of Canada and Jordan."

Harley made about 1000 of these bikes for the military in WWII - they were experimental.

And I just noticed that the originator of this thread wrote that article, LOL

The only Harleys with opposed jugs and shaft drive. I saw one at Bikes on the Bricks in Flint this year, an amazing bike:
