Just unplug it and run straight through the factory ECM.

Just unplug it and plug ECM in stock. Bike may not run well depending on mods, but ou won't be stranded.

Sure, I've read a bunch of others in here over the yrs that's had issues with them.
They are a piggy back system and with any thing that an add on it can go bad.
Don't remember how many were stranded though.

Bike has 60k miles. PC-V installed ~ 35k 2 1/2 years ago. Never fail, yet. I did plug in a pair of X-ied's to the O2 pigtails and left them hanging. Figure just in case the PC-V fails, I can plug the O2 back in with the X-ied so it won't run as lean.

Mine crapped the bed after i washed it once.... If they get really wet they can fail. I just pulled it off and ran the bike without it for a day or two till it was completely dry and put it back on.... Ran fine after that.

Does heat also cause them to crash along with water? How can I protect it from water?

Dialectric grease on the connectors will keep water from getting n there under most circumstances - the unit itself is supposed to be waterproof. The thing is to make sure its all tucked away properly and dont hit it directly with the hose (like I did :-(
