May be a dumb question but is the right side of the lid going to be bent down like the left? Just curious.

I have no opinion on the lid, I am fine with whatever you decide to go with. Lol

No. Just the front. It will extend past the box lip though. Didnt see an advantage to that plus it could complicate a latch mount.

Hay if you are going to mount your plate to the rear I need to flush that rear over hang. Glad you said you are going to mount a plate back there.

Yea for sure.

Where is the latch going to go? I assumed it would go on the side?

Working on that. If its on the side it will be at an ankle to match the lid. I think it will look off. Could mount it on the front or do a key'd barrel tool box type latch. Thats why I started this thread. Spit ballin ideas.

Ahhhh, gotcha...that makes sense. I agree, a latch probably would look off it was on the side.

An electronic actuator, mounted on the back side.

Or cut a small half inch by 1/4 inch slot in the back of the box.
Weld this bracket inside the lid on one end or the other.

Make the piece sticking through curved instead of straight like in my drawing.
Rivet the arm to the mount bracket, keep it loose so that it will move.
To open just push up the tab sticking through the back.
It would also lock up with the second slot.
It would not need to be near a big as my drawing.
