Default Going to Sturgis!

That is, Sturgis, MS. After a few years when the Sturgis South Rally was dead due to local politics, it now looks like it is back on for this year -- August 15-17. It's not like real Sturgis, but (for me and some buddies) it's an easy day's ride up to a few days partying. What's not to like?

I'd do the smaller one before I'd do the bigger rally. Just not my thing, but I hope you have some fun. Be safe.

Sturgis was the first rally I did. Nothing else can compare to it. Having said that, I certainly enjoy the smaller events and rallies. Have a great time and enjoy!

While some scoff at the Sturgis rally, my most enjoyment was simply being around all the other bikers.

No matter where you rode, you were engaged by them. Seeing them pass you by the hundreds when out running the roads. Seeing them stopped at the rest areas, at the fuel pumps, in the restaurants. Everybody seemed to be on bikes.

Just seeing bikes all around was perhaps the most memorable part of the event. (oh yeah and full throttle saloon girls and burnouts too)

I went to SD for #73, plan to skip #74 but will be there for #75. I've been to Sturgis South several times (before it was cancelled), glad to see the locals got past the politics of greed(!) It's an easy day's ride for us, always an enjoyable rally -- but the weather is always HOT!!!. That's why we stay in a Starkville hotel rather than camping at the rally site.
