Question chrome bolt head covers-do they work good?

I'm looking for the chrome bolt head covers kits. HD kit # 94947-07 (for the Dyna) is pretty pricey at $250 plus or minus depending where you buy them. E-bay has kits much cheaper $30.00 or so from Hong Kong. Are the HD caps metal or plastic? Do they stay on well? My various sizes of bolt heads are showing slight corrosion and not good looking.

Anyone with chrome bolt head covers/toppers/caps experiences, what have you found that is acceptable?

Just about every nut and bolt on my 2005 SE Fat Boy has a hot topper on it. The original owner had them put on when the bike was new. I bought the bike 10 months later, so they have been on 9 years.
Non have ever fell off. It is a good idea to put some silicon glue inside them when you put them on.
They still look brand new.

Don't buy them from HD! You can buy them very cheap online (EBay) or from Kury. The cheap ones work fine and for $20 or so bucks you get probably 100 covers. SJ Ron

The wife's sporty has the head bolt caps on it. Yes they are metal and held on with a set screw.

I have Hot Toppers on most fasteners and they work great. I didn't like their solution for the derby cover though, so I fitted chrome bolts there.

Default Bolt caps

I bought a set on ebay for 99 cents plus $30 shipping from china last year.
They work great. Just put a spot of clear silicone on them. I haven't had any fall off, most fit pretty tight. Bike looks way better with them.

they work great at retaining moisture...I recommend using some dielectric grease to prevent your bolt heads from rotting away...
