Battery tender flashing red on a brand new battery - WTF?
So I finally went to pick up my newly acquired 2012 FLHX from the shop it was spending the winter at. Right before leaving the house, I got a call from the guys there saying that apparently it sat the whole winter without a tender (don't ask) and battery, of course, is completely dead. Seeing that the weather is changing back to cold/rain/possible snow here in Chicago again, I decided against ordering a proper replacement (thank you everyone who responded to my other thread). I wanted her in my garage now! So the guys from the shop went to the Lee Auto store nearby and picked up a battery.
The bike fired up with no problems. I brought her home.
Later in the day I decided to put her on the tender, just to make sure that the battery is full. So I plug the tender to the harness that hanging off to the side of the left bag. To my surprise, the tender keeps flashing red... WTF?
Does anyone know what that means and how to remediate that?

I have both the H-D Tender and the Original Battery Tenders and the colors are different between the 2 models. Which do you have, a tender with the green Battery Tender label or the Harley black and orange label?

I have one that is picky about the sequence of hooking it up. Gotta plug it into the wall first, then the bike, or it won't cycle to green...ever.
Also...Check that the leads are truly + and - to your battery.

It's the green Battery Tender Junior, that I've used on my Yamaha Raider for a couple of years now

I'd recheck you harness connections to the battery. Flashing red means no battery connected. Does it work properly on Yamaha?
