Anyone ever get one of these? I'm thinking of getting one for the peace of mind, not to mention it's getting a bit loose.

I heard they are pretty good, although, a little pricey at $225.

If the website is any indication of their attention to quality, I'd run.

IE mangles it

what the hells wrong with the OEM one on your bike? Never heard of one snapping or even stripping on late model bikes.

The problem is, the splines wear out and it won't grip on the shaft. And, you have to completely remove the primary cover to get to it.
This lever allows you to bolt it on without removing the primary. It's actually a very good idea.

I was trying to think of a way to make my own, but the tool to make the splines is expensive.

No. The lever for shifting, the one behind the primary.

I think the only way you can make an internal spline is with a broach; and these are not cheap. That's why the BetterLever is cheaper than getting the tool and trying to make it yourself.

However,if there was another way to cut internal splines... then we might have something. Or, another way to clamp around the splined shaft; the key would be not to damage the splines. I have been trying to think of another way, just haven't come up with anything yet.

Might be OK for a repair.

Like someone else said I believe that particular problem does not occur very often on late model bikes....

If the lever has properly torqued down it will NEVER wear out - Ever! There is minimal force on the spines if it is clamped correctly.
