Percent Error of Odometer / Trip Tick
Just curious, how far off is everyone's Odometer??
I have a 9.2 mile ride to work (per google maps), my odometer says i went 10.3 - thats 11.9% off!!
The real reason i ask: I can live with the miles being inaccurate, but if my miles are off my speedo would be off as well, correct?

Just out of curiosity - have you found your HD odometer to be off, or pretty similiar to other vechicles?

Jack your back tire up over a tread mill at night and run it at 8mph for a few hours every day. You will shave thousands of miles of your bike!
But in all seriousness try a different vehicle or another map program.

Check the speed with a GPS, if the speed is off more than likely the odometer will be off too. Mine reads about 3% fast (67mph reading is 65). 11.9% off is crazy. Are you running stock tire/wheel size

I can give you the exact answer on my bike. On Iron Butt runs I record and track my trip odometer and GPS mileage.
My speedometer overstates the actual mileage between 2.019% and 2.314%.
The variance between those 2 numbers equals 6.57 feet per mile and I believe that difference is attributable to variance in tire sizes as they get worn and putting new tires on.
It would be accurate to state my speedometer over states speed and mileage ridden by 2%.
This is common on all motorcycles, not just Harley.
Slap a gps on your bike and I bet your real numbers over time will be close to the 2%.
Measure your mileage for a couple thousand miles and you will know exactly how much it is off.

Ill have to check tire size and all that tonight. I am not the original owner so its a possibility the tires are different.
