What all do they do at the HD shop? I've never had any "service" done on any of my bikes at any HD shop, just a repair or two. Is it worth it?

 

Well in reading other posts about HD service (and my personal experience) they may or may not do many of the things you pay for. If you havent had a service in 100,000 miles why would you take it in now?

For my money doing my own service saves me money and ensures that I am checking my bike over to my satisfaction.

 

The 100,000 mile service is $3500.00 per the service manual they use at the dealer, not worth it.

 

That's just plain dumb and stupid! I'd like to see that on paper.

 

I agree, that does sound a little rich to me. Personally, when I get to 100k mine is going to my Indy not a dealership.

 

holy **** ! 3500 bucks . I love the stealership...... when im getting a new tire with the tire and wheel warranty. Lots of screws on the road ya know.

 

no service is worth it, they wanted 350, i spent 160 on parts and tools and spent the day with my bike and put the other 190 in the gas tank. i cant wait to get 100k miles

 

does that include a top end rebuild too?

 

In recent history I have seen (not on the forums, talking real people I know in the real world) $300.00 fluid changes, $800.00 for tires, $1200.00 for 10K service. Some people refuse to learn how to do things themself and just pay, some will pay anything without batting an eye.

100,000 mile service. I bet many have been talked into more than $3500.00 for a 100K service.

Go into a dealer and just watch them tell you all the things that need a fixin on a 100K mile bike. When I get to 100K the only thing on my mind will be doing the regular services on my own.

 

I have heard of those inflated prices before, that is why I won't go to a dealership. If a person has mechanical skills and has the necessary tools, then doing it themselves is a good way to save money. If a person doesn't have the necessary skills then I feel an Indy is the next choice.
