Default It's hard to sell my bike to a first time buyer and rider

So I sold my sporty to a young kid about 24. He never rode before , just got his license buy taking a course at college. It scares me to know the dangers of riding and I'm going to just let him ride away . I was hoping to sell it to someone with experience .

Such is life. If he took the MSF course he is well on his way, just needs some road time and an experienced rider to help teach him the ropes. Lets hope he is smart enough to know his limits and gain real world riding experience safely.

And really, pretty neat that you sold him his first bike. He will remember it forever.

We all started somewhere. I got license through the MSF course at 23 and my first legal ride was on my dad's bagger. I couldn't believe he wanted me to take it out and was a little worried getting on a big bike after riding the 250s in the course. It was piece of cake.

I guess I would care if I were selling my bike and it was a beast speed demon that not many could handle the raw power and really know how to handle a killer scoot, but the dude has to start somewhere, and if it ain't your dream machine bike, and your selling to move up or whatever who cares?

As long as you let him have your Gremlin bell he should be OK.

The sporster was my seventh bike never had a bell on any of them. And never will.

OK. Go ahead and resume worrying then!
Seriously, I would be a lot less worried selling a newbie a Sportster, than if I was selling a heavy touring bike. And as long as your bike was well maintained, he got a nice safe bike. So you got him off to as good a start as possible.

I'd rather a newbie bought a well-maintained bike from me (if I happened to be selling, which I'm not) than buy a cheaper, but death-trap bike from someone more shady. And if they guy picked up on your concern, then hopefully he realised you're more likely to be a conscientious owner and seller than someone who wants to offload a bike with a bent frame and sticky throttle.

At least you sold a Sporty to him and not a 600cc race rep as his first bike.
