Default The 2 Sportsters on the Cheap Trick Album Cover

As told to me directly from Tom Petersson who is a dear friend of mine..

The 2 Sporties on the cover were not planned and were a total after thought... The cover was supposed to have been Bun E and Rick on the bicycles and Tom and Robin standing looking cool.. At the photo shoot, 2 guys were out riding and stopped to watch. They borrowed the bikes for 20 mins for the pics.. Thats how they got on the cover.. It became in my opinion, one of the best albums covers of the era...

There are two Cheap Trick album covers with Sporties. One with just the two bikes, and another with the two bikes and two bicycles.

Which was the second one? I'm not doubting you but I couldn't remember the second. I remember the "In Color" with Robin and Tom on the Harleys and the back cover had Rick and Bun E on mopeds.

I always liked their live shows. I saw them a couple times in their heyday and then I went and seen them again just a few years ago, they still do a kickass live show. IMO

I think of them as one of the best rock groups to come out of the 70's, and maybe the last!

Thanks cHarley, I see that was one of their later greatest hits,I hadn't seen that one. Looks to be the same shoot as the 'In Color...and In Black and White'.

I agree they were good. I'm not positive but I think when I seen them this last time they opened for Alice Cooper. My memories get a little fuzzy on some of the shows I've seen.

I met the guys several times during my DJ days. Lots of arrogant dick-heads touring back then, but these guys were stand-up.

I was only 14 yrs old, but I bought this album, as I worked full time in the summer, and had cash.

Those handlebars are indeed '70's....
