Clutch inspection cover stripped threads
the previous owner must have used a little to much muscle or maybe to much hammer drill to put the clutch inspection cover back on. the bottom bolt hole on my sportster is about wasted. is there anything I can do to fix this without having to buy a hole new primary case or whatever you call it. is it possible to tap it for a slightly bigger bolt?
god I hope so.

Ha ha...I managed to strip the rear one out last weekend (yes, I'm the dumbass who tried to use a ft-lb torque wrench for 7-9 ft-lbs). Gotta go pick up the helicoil kit and learn how to install one.
At least you can be glad it was the PO instead of you who did it...
Good luck.

I keep a HeliCoil kit in the tool box, I've had them strip out before and I'm sure it will happen again.

get this fixed and put a new clutch cable on her in the next few days and she will be on the road again. my clutch cable went limp on me 2 days ago and the family is going camping this weekend so now I have to wait until Tuesday to get everything.
thanks again.
