2012 Road Glide Custom
I bought my new bike now I must contemplate the warranty. My credit union offers a warranty from Route 66 and there is the HD extended service plan.
The bike has the stage two work done on it and has 9300 miles of adult care.
Do I self fund and run the gauntlet, go with the Route 66 plan at $1199 or spend $2,000 for the Harley Warranty?
Thoughts? A local non dealer hog servicer says he would get it...and he does not do any HHD warranty work.

Pretty much boils down to your philosophy regarding insurance. Personally, I never take the extended insurance on any of my bikes and I'm well ahead. Then again, I'm willing to pay for a major repair and won't bitch about it. At least not too much!

First of all, great choice of bike!
Compare what's covered and excluded in both warranties, and if you're limited on who can perform the work. Also keep in mind that some dealers will negotiate on the price of the HD extended warranty.

I bought it
I have 26 years experience with German cars, and am currently looking for a 2004 BMW 330 with 125-150,000 miles. And you can't buy a warranty on these if you wanted to at that mileahe. I don't know Harleys. As a Financial Advisor I know people seldom tell their horror stories about stocks they lost their *** on, and am thinking the same could be true about big repair bills.
I walked into the service bays of three local dealers and my mind was made up. Those big beautiful shops don't get paid for with $60 oil changes. And those beautiful bikes are not in there "adding chrome" with such gorgeous weather and riding opportunities here in NC.
I am happy with the price I paid, and as a bit of a gambler would probably be willing to prepay $500 a year to avoid a $1500 repair and a bad taste in my mouth regarding my purchase.
Thanks Gentlemen
