Default Cam Gear Drive Worth It?

A friend is getting parts together for upgrading a stock 2009 Touring to a 103. Question is this. Is converting the cam chain drive to gear drive worth the cost/time? It'll cost around $700-$800 more. My opinion is no since the newer chain drives seem very reliable.

with the cheep *** cast flywheels that harley is putting in the bikes today
gear driven cams might not even work. Now if your friend wants to split
the case and drop some serious bucks for a quality forged crank then yeah
gear driven cams are the only way to go.
